The Bow Valley Music Club presents a twin bill: The Small Glories and Ridley Bent
The Small Glories
Cara Luft and J.D. Edwards, The Small Glories, are a musical fit that has garnered both awards and accolades across the nation and beyond. Their music is classified as roots, but it is a wonderful mixture of folk, bluegrass, gospel and blues, distilled through two voices that match and marry perfectly.
A Small Glories concert is a coming together of audience and performer and it has been a wonderful and successful partnership now through almost a decade, and audiences have been the happy benefactor.
“Luft is a Wailin’ Jennys alum whose work on the clawhammer banjo is to die for, while Edwards’ guitar and vocal harmonies deepen and enrich the duo’s sound.”— NPR Music
Ridley Bent
Bent is a Canadian singer-songwriter who began his recording career by blending his unique story-telling with various musical genres to create a sound that was called ‘hick-hop’ and grew to become one of the cornerstones of Vancouver’s young, alternate country movement.
After releasing his first album, Bent began to tour steadily and his music gradually changed to become more in line with artists he respected, such as George Jones and Dwight Yoakum, but always rooted firmly in the stories he created.
Today, Ridley Bent is considered to be one of Canada's strongest singer-songwriters, with his lyrics always front and centre and five albums to his credit.
"funny, incisive, witty and an exceptionally literate lyricist, and he knows how to rock out... There's not a wasted track" - Greg Quill, The Toronto Star
